Ethical Botanical Bundles

Ceremonial smoke cleansing rooted in European ancestry and grown with respect for place.

Handcrafted bundles using British-Celtic ceremonial plants, grown and gathered on Wadawurrung and Djaara Country in Victoria. An ethical, locally-sourced alternative to Palo Santo and White Sage - reconnecting with ancestral herbal traditions.

Why choose ethical alternatives?

For many years, Palo Santo and White Sage have been used widely in Western wellness and spiritual practices. While these plants hold deep significance in their cultures of origin - Palo Santo in South American traditions, White Sage in Indigenous North American ceremony - their popularity has led to serious problems.

The issues:

  • Overharvesting: White Sage is now threatened in its native habitats due to commercial demand

  • Cultural appropriation: Sacred plants are being commodified outside their traditional contexts

  • Exploitation: Unethical harvesting practices harm ecosystems and Indigenous communities

  • Disconnection: Using plants with no relationship to our own land or lineage

When we choose plants that grow plants grown sustainably and plants our own ancestors used for ceremony - we create meaningful, reciprocal relationships with place. We support local ecosystems, and we connect with practices that actually make sense for our lineage.

Grown with intention. Gathered with respect.

How they're made:

  • Plants are grown in small gardens or ethically foraged

  • All botanicals are spray-free and handled with care

  • Bundles are hand-tied and dried with intention

  • Each plant is chosen for its historical use in British-Celtic ceremonial traditions

Care instructions

  • Ensure your space is well ventilated

  • Light the bundle and let it catch, then blow out the flame

  • Allow the smoke to drift through your space with intention

  • Always use a heatproof dish and never leave burning bundles unattended

  • Extinguish fully in sand or water when finished

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture

A note on ceremony

These bundles are tools, not shortcuts. True ceremony comes from presence, intention, and respect - for the plants, for the land, and for the traditions we're drawing from.

Use them with care. Use them with gratitude. And may they support you in creating rituals that feel grounded, honest, and alive.

Acknowledgement

These bundles draw on British-Celtic herbal traditions, not Indigenous Australian practices. While currently grown on Wadawurrung and Djaara Country, the plants and ceremonial uses are rooted in European ancestry, practiced here with deep respect for the ongoing connection between First Nations peoples and Country.
